PAYROLL ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS

PURPOSE

This unit standard is for learners in the payroll profession or those seeking to enter the payroll profession, who wish to enhance their payroll competencies. Learners who are competent in this unit standard will be able to determine, communicate, and distribute information and funds where appropriate to relevant internal and external bodies.

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES

  • Ascertaining information requirements.
  • Processing and distributing information to meet management requirements.
  • Communicating with individual employees and managers.
  • Facilitating the transfer of funds to/from external bodies.
  • Providing information to authorized agencies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

It is assumed that the learner has the following knowledge and skills:

  • Communication at NQF Level 3
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3
  • Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3

MODULES

The modules included in the qualification are as the following:

  1. Module 1: Ascertain information requirements.
  2. Module 2: Process and distribute information to meet management requirements.
  3. Module 3: Communicate with individual employees and managers.
  4. Module 4: Facilitate the transfer of funds to/from external bodies.
  5. Module 5: Provide information to authorized agencies.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Specific careers may include the following:

  • Payroll Administrator
  • HR Manager
  • Group Payroll Administrator

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • 30% of your final mark comes from your Formative and Summative Assessments.
  • 70% of your final mark comes from the FISA.
  • You need at least 75% overall to pass.
